About Me & My Methods

Jessica Daggit, CNWI

My passion for dogs has been a lifelong journey. In 2013, I became a Certified Dog Trainer to help pet owners build stronger, more fulfilling partnerships with their dogs.

I discovered K9 Nose Work® in a class with Cindy Knowlton, CNWI, and was immediately captivated. Inspired, I became a Certified Nose Work Instructor (CNWI) myself.

I follow the philosophy of the Dog-Driven Search, letting dogs take the lead and giving them the freedom to problem-solve naturally. Nose Work is at its best when dogs are confident, independent, and joyful, not when every step is directed by the handler.

In my training, I strive to make learning positive, fun and enriching for both dogs and their handlers.

Dogs lead, we support, and together we make every search a confident, joyful experience.

Nose Work Classes

Intro to K9 Nose Work®
This foundational class introduces dogs to the game of K9 Nose Work®, encouraging their desire to hunt for food and building independence. Through searching in containers and interior spaces, dogs learn to navigate airflow, explore high and low, and problem-solve with confidence. Each week, searches are gradually adjusted to match your dog’s individual level, setting them up for success. Weather permitting, exteriors are also introduced. Handlers will begin developing essential observation and leash handling skills. This course lays the groundwork for future Nose Work training and is required before moving on to Intro to Odor.

Intro to Odor
This class is for dogs who have completed Intro to K9 Nose Work® and are ready to begin working with target odors. Teams will be introduced to Birch, Anise, and Clove using food pairing to build a strong, positive association with odor. Dogs continue to develop their independent problem-solving skills as searches gradually increase in complexity across containers, interior spaces, and exterior environments. Handlers begin using external rewards and continue developing their observation and leash-handling skills to better support their dogs. This class sets the stage for balanced teamwork while maintaining the dog’s developing focus and drive for odor.

Continuing Nose Work
This class caters to dogs of varying experience levels, from just having finished Intro to Odor to dogs at upper levels. Searches are tailored to match your team’s current skills, helping you strengthen foundations or refine advanced techniques. We’ll focus on maintaining joy and enthusiasm, building independence, and developing clear handling skills, all while remembering that Nose Work is meant to be fun with your dog. Each session offers mentally stimulating searches designed to keep both you and your dog engaged and progressing.

Private sessions offer personalized, one-on-one instruction tailored to your and your dog’s specific needs and training goals. They’re great for dogs who need a quieter environment, extra support beyond group classes, or when no classes are available or the schedule doesn’t fit your needs.

I am delighted to share my Nose Work journey with my Clumber Spaniel, Goomba. His enthusiasm and love for the sport keeps me eager to continue learning and enjoy every moment.

Goomba, registered name, Clussexx Red Baron, is the 12th Clumber Spaniel to earn a NACSW NW1 title.

He enjoys hiking, sniffing, sleeping but most of all loves having fun with his mom and dad whatever they choose to do.

I am so excited to be starting another dog in Nose Work. From the moment I brought Gimli home at 8 weeks, he was firecracker about searching. I am enjoying every moment teaching and learning from him and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us. Hopefully big things!

Gimli’s registered name is Primetime Nobody Tosses a Dwarf but we just call him our ‘Crack Spaniel’, as he loves to work and is always wanting to fetch or hunt for his ball.
